I Fell In Love With Food

They welcome you warmly! Two different menus. One for our very own South Indian food and another one for Chinese food! You will be confused from which menu should you choose the soup and the starter first! They take your order and they won't make you wait till they bring your order! You'll be served with a welcome drink and small piece of vaazhapazha dosai. I'm sure you will ask for that again because I asked them! Chinese soups are brilliant and if you are a fan of South Indian soup go for kozhi rasam!

Their starters are unique and tastes brilliant! Annachis varutha kozhi - taste that and you will never go to any other place to eat chicken! Cordon blue and crispy chicken bell peppers will make you fight with your group or the person you go with because I'm sure you won't say enough! I ordered parotta and mutton chukka. The best mutton chukka I've ever had! Their South Indian gravy's are really good! My friend ordered shanghai fried rice. A mixed fried rice and noodles with Hunan chicken! I didn't know which one to finish. Their appam was as soft as sponge. Asked for one more and I couldn't stop eating! I wanted to order poricha parotta but no space in my tummy! So I stopped there because I surely knew I will come here again soon! Finally desserts. OMG. The elaneer paayasam and thoothukudi pudding will make you sit there and romance with that! I ordered elaneer paayasam again! Worth the money! When you get brilliant food Why care about the bill amount! SHANGAI ANNACHI - I would prefer eating there 7 days a week! :)

Best Food In Town

I went to the Hotel and ordered a few items like Briyani, Chicken Lollipop, fish Karandi, Singaporean Cereal chicken, drums of heaven. Everything is good and we revisited the restaurant within a week. Best place to have food traditional and chinese. Welcome drink(Lemon and Ginger juice) is awesome. Complimentary Sweet Appam is fabulous.
Rates are a little high than a normal restaurant. "The Best cannot be cheap and cheap cannot be the best". Prices were not too high but, moderate.

Really Nice Food!!

Visited this restaurant last time I was in Chennai and was truly impressed with the food here. Though they call themselves Shanghai Annachi, they serve primarily Chinese food but that was hardly a problem since I love Chinese. I was dining with a colleague and we ordered chicken dumplings and chicken Manchow soup to start with and then moved on coriander chilli chicken, garlic fish and seafood fried rice along with mixed noodles for main course. Every item that we ordered stood out in taste and flavour and was served steaming hot on the table. We literally licked our plates clean. The service staff was also nice and friendly. Definitely will visit again the next time I'm in Chennai. Highly recommend it to Chinese food lovers in Chennai.

Taste tailored to perfection !

This place is in the first floor of a average looking building. I was skeptical first to try this place, But when I opened the restaurant door I was taken back by its beautiful interiors. I knew that I was deceived by entire buildings look. Then I was welcomed and the hospitality was superb like most of the restaurants in Chennai.

The food : Perhaps the finniest food I tasted in the recent past. Right from the starters to the dessert, I was blown back by the level of precision and importance they gave to their food. The tender chicken and the tasty banana dosa are things I would come back for. The lunch on a overall was a happy experience and I will any day come back to this place to eat.

Unique blend of Indo-Chinese cuisine

Little place, pretty expansive menu. Haven't ever had banana dosa before. There are a few interesting dishes on the menu at this Indo-Chinese place. Good eats for cheap. The name was what drew us in lol. Friendly staff, and kid-friendly place.

STAY AWARE !!!!!

The first time when we had been to shanghai we had a very good experience and with this in mind we had been there recently (2nd time) but we were a little pissed off . We were having our lunch , while the next table folks had just done, the server had cleaned the left over food and he actually passed that left over food in a new bowl and served to another table . We were SHOCKED to SEE THIS!!!!! we could not make an issue as the hotel was totally crowded and busy !!! I suggest you friends to stay aware with these people !!!

An Overrated Experience

Good ambiance and service but the food is overpriced and overrated. We tried a couple of things on the South Indian menu. Don't fall for the name as it does not refer to a fusion menu. They just offer two different menus to choose from. I wouldn't consider this place value for money. Worth visiting once maybe.

Avg!

I had been to this joint for their dinner after reading +ve reviews. Must say it is truly a below average affair. It had a wierd combination of food with no real tingling the tongue kind of feeling. It was purely a filling the stomach project by the end of it.
Not worth the money one bit and walk out a disappointed customer. Wont be coming back for free food too.

Ordinary at best

Hearing the name, I expected this place to be a fusion of South Indian and Chinese cuisine. But in the end it turned out to be just the two cuisine on two separate menus. We ended up ordering a mix of both cusines.

The Dimsums were average. The Noodles and Hunan Chicken were slightly better.
Appams and sides were better than the chinese. But the service was truly awful. We had asked for a boneless south indian dish, we ended up getting bones. We were billed extra for bottles which were never ordered. When this was questioned, the waiters were rude and so was the manager. Overall a really bad experience.

Exceptional food

We had been to a lunch on a Sunday as a large group (of 10). We chose the place after reading previous reviews on Burrp and we made a prior reservation. The ambience was pleasant but crowded.

We went with mixed menu between Chinese and Indian. Almost all dishes were excellent and full of flavour. Especially the kola urundai and the thoothukudi pudding. It was very crowded on the sunday afternoon and the staff had a tough time keeping up, so the service wasn't as attentive as we would have liked.

Cost here was rated as 'Moderate' but for an average eater, it cost us about INR 700 per head. But in any case, we would highly recommend this restaurant based on our experience here.

Non veg was worth it

we went in for a saturday lunch..2 of us were non veg and 1 opted for veg.. so soup was chcken rasam and it was good. authentic i would say. starters , we went in for baby corn something in veg and checken bell pepper (after all the other comments in this section.). it was yummy.. their presentation was nice too. then the main course which was chicken briyani and veg kothu paratha.. chkn briyani was a little disappointing given the expectations from the starters. Veg was - something seriously wrong!!! we didnt go in for desserts , mayb a little pissed off with our main course :(

I wanna eat here everyday :D

Sooooo much yummy food, cooked to perfection to choose from!
The starters were amazing.

Shanghai Annaachi has a wide variety to choose from and has plenty of unusual but delicious treats as well!
Take the elaneer pudding for example. It was simply mind-blowing!

I loved the complimentary kimchi (never tasted anything so yummy in my life) and the vazhapazham dosa.

The ambience and the service was excellent as well.
Definitely a must-visit restaurant!

I'm waiting to eat there again!

Shanghai Annachi- Interesting, sure but not great

The name itself definitely deserves some credit points. The Chinese menu is quite good and offers some delicious items like spicy chicken and chicken wings.
The food quality was great, though one wishes the quantity was more.
The location (on KNK road) is a boon and service is top-notch.
The uniqueness of the food would be the main reason for a first visit, though I'm not sure about repeat visits.
Shanghai Annachi is a good place, but probably not worth all the hype.
Will visit again soon for a more extensive review!

The taste and quality never disappoints you. Never

Come here if you want some serious deal of quality food. This unusual mix of South Indian and Chinese food does give a huge space of food to choose from, be it a Southie Main dish and a Chinese Side one or anything, you are super satisfied with it. The Separate menus for South Indian and Chinese says it all. The uniqueness of every dish here and the surprise you get after knowing how delicious it tastes after eating it is out of the planet. Right from the name, this amazing restaurant stands apart and wins. Good Food.
