Good place but not for meat lovers
For a Mumbaikar like me, the vast restaurant is a blessing. It is nice not to be squashed into a hole while dining.
The owners have taken great pains to do the place up in authentic Punjabi style. So you take a flight into the basement and see a ornate door with low cord seats and a well with a bucket et al.
Once you step inside there are more manifestations of Punjabi lifestyle. The water is served in the heavy brass glasses, the menu is on a slate, there are earthern lanterns hanging from the rafters, the seating is on wooden tables and there are mirror works on the walls, which look like they are caked mud walls.
The food was good. We had a stuffed mushroom, but the mushrooms were undercooked. The chicken gillafi kababs wer yummy, but the mutton biryani did not live up to expectations.
There are very limited options on the menu for the non-veggies. But my companions who gorged on the veg fare did like what they had.
The service was abysmal. Often you have to serve yourself and literally clear the table, by polishing off the food and piling the empty plates one on top of another.
Not a bad joint, overall, but still has miles to go before you can strictly recommend it to someone
