Old, worn out and still crowded sums up my experience. Was in Delhi on work and was staying in the CP area.Had to meet someone for dinner and decided to meet at this place as my hotel was within walking distance.
Reached there to find the place pretty crowded on a Thursday evening. Seemed to be more packed with foreigners than locals. Service is a tad too slow with obvious preference for foreigner tables.
The food was uniformly good. The Chana bhaturas were the best and the most expensive I have ever eaten. At Rs.210 a portion it was definitely expensive. But no regrets they were supremely satisfying-Infinitely oily, the chana being spiy and greasy...I would presume super comfort food...
Other than the food everything about the place screamed "I have customers streaming in...I don't care" how it looks, how it smells and how do I serve. Many places like that I have been to -Koshy's in Bangalore, Oly's in Calcutta, Ritz and Parklane in Mysore...I think familiarity and assurance of good food over rules all other considerations...
