Experienced Oh! Calcutta on 22-Apr 2011-04-23
Entered the restaurant to find a nice greeting by smiling staff. Had a sumptuous dinner with Bhetki paturi, Ilish begun, steamed rice.
It is being called an Authentic Bengali restaurant, and lives to the name as per the quality of dishes. But, then the staff should also have been in authentic bengali traditional dress code...dhuti panjabi.
Anyways, though the food is expensive, it was worth it and we had a very nice time. Very good service. -

Would I go again to Oh Calcutta? NO
Food quality :- Good.
In comparison to quality of food served:- Way way below standard
Service timings:- We were served starters in 15 minutes. Ok, good. Main course? 50 minutes after finishing the starters. And it wasn't only us. The family on the next table were just as bugged.
My rating as a family restaurant :- Negative. AT their prices, it isn't worth it.
My rating as a corporate place to handout with foreign colleagues? Good, where you can sit for ages with drinks and then be ready for wait to be... read more -

Ohhh Calcutta...is how I sigh happily at the thought of this place. And I grew up in Calcutta. Plus I am a Bong. Despite this - the delicacy of the dishes has to be tried to be believed. Daab Chingri is my favourite - with shrimps so fresh they almost seem to be swimming in the tender green coconut in which they are served. Kosha Mangsho, if you eat meat - is not to be missed. They tell me that the combination of spices is so subtle that you cannot taste the mutton, it simply melts away. Posto must be had. And of course the fish in mustard sauce. Authentic Bong Dishes!! 2009-12-30
People call it expensive...But it is worth the yummy bengali dishes served..authentic taste...the first time i went i fell in love with the food....no doubt its on the expensive side but every bengali will love the food...foremost the waiters have their etiquettes intact and enhance ur mood as well.....
