The Golconda Bowl

The Hyderabadi Pakwaan is a preciously preserved culinary art like no other. A-400 year history behind the culinary delights was evolved in the kitchens of the Nizams of Golconda who elevated Ghizaayat (food) to a sublime art form. Hyderabadi cuisine reflects a perfect amalgamation of influence from the Arabic, Turkish, Kayasth, Marathawada and the natives of the Deccan plateau. The Khansamas, highly regarded by the nobles always followed one thumb rule; cooking patiently or ? ithmenaan se? is the key to the perfect creations. Therefore slow cooking is the hallmark of Hyderabadi cuisine. The Golconda Bowl is a tribute to this culinary art. Allow us to take you on a voyage of aromatic delicacies and flirt with your senses. The ?Dastatkhan? has been spread so get ready to tantalize your taste buds with the delectable authentic recipes prepared by the genuine Hyderabadi Mezbaan who have mastered the craft of blending the spices, grains, meats, vegetables and cooking style to perfection. Needless to mention, at The Golconda Bowl Hyderabadi Tehzeeb is a routine affair and comes on the house.

  • Relaxed atmosphere, excellent food & service Nov 10, 2012

Another one of those places you happen to chance upon without someone's recommendation. It's quite inside the village but you won't regret taking the time to find it. I guess the directional signs help as well. It's an ideal place if you want a nice quiet evening with your partner or family. I highly recommend their biryani, especially the mutton one. It's not often you find proper dum biryani with layers or rice and chicken/lamb. Slightly expensive but the quality and quantity of the food make it worth it.

Kachchey gosht ki biryani (Rs 475) is unbelievably authentic: outside Hyderabad, whoever claims that they are serving this Hyderabadi signature, usually resort to short-cuts. But cooking raw rice and raw lamb together so that both cook together, that too without the meat remaining tough or the rice becoming pulp, is an art. Visit any mid-level eating joint in Hyderabad and the rice will be formed into a tightly packed bowl, and that is exactly how my order appeared. You don’t skim off only the top layer of rice onto your plate, but dig deep into the tightly packed mass to get a cross-section of... read more

  • Awesome and Authentic Nov 04, 2012

This place has great food and the taste is as authentic as it can get in Hyderabad. Strongly recommended. Recommend the pathar ka gosht, haleem and biryani (which comes with raita and mirchi ka salan). We were stuffed - so could not try the desserts - though the place offers khubani ka meetha and double ka meetha. The staff is efficient and courteous (we went during lunch when the place was not very crowded)

  • authentic Hyderabadi cuisine Sep 03, 2012

Tucked away in the by-lanes of Hauz Khas Village, this restaurant is truly a gem. Many restaurants might claim to have authentic Hyderabadi cuisine but this is the real deal!..
The must-trys are definitely the Pathar ke kebab, Tala Ghost and their fabulous Biryani, apart from the lovely curries they have. The Pathar ke kebab are melt in your mouth and deftly spiced, the best in the city. The biryani too is one of the best I've had. For vegetarians, the Veg Shikhampuri Kebab is amazing, and stands its ground infront of the amazing non-veg kebabs, and the Khatti Dal is something different, and
