Finger-licking Food

Hey, its been a great experience to Flavors
Finger-linking food, amazing atmosphere makes it one the best place to have a Italian food in delhi.
I would like to suggest Flavors to post their ads on classified sites like clickindia.com for free. It is a easy n effective way to make people aware abt the cafe.

Old Faithful

Enough has been written about good old Flavors. All I can say is that this place offers what is probably the best, most authentic Italian food in the whole city, if not the whole country. Beautiful.

Playing with People’s Health

The complaint pertains to a Italian Restaurant by the name “Flavors of Italy”. The restaurant has added “Gluten Free Diet” to its menu and they are charging Rs 85 per dish more for such dishes. Gluten free diet is prescribed for people suffering from Coeliac disease.

I ordered for one gluten free pasta dish on 15th March 2008 during lunch time. It was served with a loaf of bread which definitely contains gluten. When I tasted the Pasta I did not find it to be gluten free. Then I called for the manager of FLAVORS. He insisted that it was gluten free dish. When I remained adamant on talking to the chef, he himself went to confirm in the kitchen. “Then he informed me that it was not 100% Gluten Free Diet.”

Coeliac disease is a life-long inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. This is caused by sensitivity to gluten, a protein in wheat, rye, barley and oats. When eaten, gluten causes changes in the lining of the upper part of the intestine that impairs its ability to absorb nutrients from food. It’s a major medical problem and can lead to extreme problems like Calcium deficiency, anemia and even infertility in women.

International airlines serve Gluten free diet however they make sure that the same does not contain any trace of gluten.

I feel that it’s a serious irresponsibility on part of FLAVORS to serve Gluten free food when it is not perfectly gluten free. The food can have serious implications for people like me who are suffering from Coeliac disease.

We should boycott the place till it does not change its menu.

Please initiate some action against the restaurant. Its details are:

I attaching a US article on suit filed by an individual on McDonalds on a similar issue:
Suit Filed against McDonald’s for Gluten-Free French Fries
Levy v. McDonald's – Freedland Farmer Russo Behren & Sheller has filed a Class Action suit on behalf of a 5 year old girl with Autism. The family decided to put their daughter on a gluten-free diet after numerous studies showed that such a diet can improve quality of life. McDonald's advertised that its french fries were gluten-free. However, McDonald's recently revealed that its french fries did in fact contain gluten. The class action claim is for unfair and deceptive trade practices and seeks a disgorgement of profits McDonald's enjoyed from sales of its french fries to those seeking to adhere to a gluten free diet. The class will likely seek to recover such money on behalf of autism agencies or societies to promote additional research on autism and related conditions.

not good not bad

It is expensive for the little amount of food you get. The terrace is a really nice place to hang out though.

Day-trip Delight

Met a friend for lunch at this delightful place on a day-trip to Delhi last week. I guess the winter weather had much to do with it as we enjoyed the warmth of the sun on the edge of a park that Flavors overlooks.

The food was good - we had a feta salad, a parma ham pizza (cooked in a wood-oven) and the hot pepperoni panini. The pizza was pretty authentic - thin, crispy and the ham was fresh, while the panini lacked the chef's creative inspiration - seemed like he just chucked it together - more like a melt than a panini...

All in all, a good experience and even though the service was a bit unprofessional, I would recommend this place and probably go back myself when in town. The meal cost about 1300 so not too bad on the wallet either.
