Good

Great salads!

From time to time over the last 5 years I visit Market Cafe. Recently going back for lunch two of us shared a frittata and one of the salads from the interesting range on the menu. Both items were superb - because it was so hot outside we passed the time with a few lattes, and an ice-cream each. In all, a good, tasty lunch with fresh ingredients and cooking.
However, when the bill arrives, one forgets all the taxes and my word, don't they heave it up into 4 figures!! There's VAT and Service Charge plus a 10rupee donation (which you can refuse) to their selected Wildlife NGO. It seemed to me we had paid a lot of money for a few items.
Food and coffees were excellent, but yes, this Cafe is expensive.

Zen

B25, Connaught Place, Delhi

Good

Great Fish Dish!

My husband and I recently visited Zen for an evening meal. Yes, the menu looked expensive and we were tempted to leave, however it was so hot outside and nice and cool inside, we decided to share 2 choices and drink their filtered water. It was an airy place, and everything spotlessly clean - interesting decor.
I wanted fish with almonds and cashew nuts plus a ginger vegetable mixture but the table attendant said both these dishes had a lot of sauce and since neither of us wanted rice he suggested a drier fish dish plus the broccoli and beans/peas veg - both without sauces since we didn't want any rice. I forget the exact title of the fish dish we had (should have written it down at the time) - but it was superb and so were the veggies.
In fact, this was one of the best meals I've eaten in a long time! Having just returned from Oz and NZ and eating very nicely there too, I'm rating this meal ahead of any I ate there! As for the price - it worked out at around 300rupees per head, including the tax and tip. Not as expensive as first anticipated, very filling and superb cooking.

Good

Delicious desserts!

and cakes are a feature here, with wonderful coffee as well.
Also an interesting menu where food is fresh and scrumptious. One of my favourite cafes - it's a great place to visit after browsing the well-stocked shelves of Full Circle's bookshop.

Good

Great Coffee and Cake!

Not only coffee and cake which you can have downstairs, but also upstairs a good menu for lunch and dinner. I've visited here several times now and it never fails me.
If you like a nice quiet spot for afternoon tea , you can go to the upstairs part and have your coffee and cake there while you read a book, take time out from a hectic schedule. The bakery items are excellent. Some desserts on the menu card are full meals in themselves - just waiting for chocoholics!

Excellent

Great for Ladies' Lunch!

Yes, the food is expensive but not overly - I chose an entree and a dessert when I met my fellow lady friends for lunch. This was quite sufficient and filling - we all had something different and the choice was not huge but just what could be prepared freshly and deliciously for the day.
I would have to say this is one of the best restaurants in Delhi for quality of cooking, presentation of your meal, and nice, quiet ambience. I've given it an excellent rating because there was nothing I could fault with any of our dishes! They were all superb. It is necessary to book for lunch.
